David is an environmental photojournalist, filmmaker, and writer. He is currently based in the US and resides in Central Ohio.
In 2022 and 2023, David was the recipient of the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) individual artist award. GCAC’s ongoing support helped advance his mission to be a visual voice for individuals, families, and charitable organizations making a positive impact on our planet and its environments.
David holds a B.A. in International Studies with a focus on Latin America and Natural Resource Management from The Ohio State University. In addition, studying Fish and Wildlife Management, he has an A.D. in Applied Science from Hocking Technical College . David also obtained a certificate in Digital Photography from Columbus State Community College and is a licensed drone pilot.
David’s interest in photography grew in the year 2000 with the gift of a Minolta 35mm film camera for Christmas. Nearly 23 years later, photography has led him to explore the world, including field study research in Algonquin National Park, Ontario, Canada; an internship working with endangered animals of the Maya Biosphere Reserve (MBR) in northern Guatemala; and sea turtle rescue on the south coast of Guatemala. In Jamaica and Ecuador, too, David worked closely with NGOs for hospitals, orphanages, and environmental/language schools.
Collaborating with The Nature Conservancy, Biohabitats, and American Farmland Trust, David has visually documented environmental restoration projects that highlight the importance of clean water, sustainable agriculture, and the protection of our natural heritage. His love of nature, thirst for knowledge, and desire to help others continue to guide David’s goal to create imagery that will inspire, captivate, and emotionally connect people to their environment.
When he isn’t on assignment, David can still be found taking photos, rock climbing, gardening, backpacking, digging in record crates, and loving time shared with family and friends.
